Designwall work with designers and architects to enlarge its collection customized wallpaper and wallpaper on the roll. For every customized project they create a unique lay-out following the specific dimensions of the wall and the location of doors and/or windows within.
Designwall is initiated in 2005 by Ed Annink (Ontwerpwerk) on the occasion of his solo exhibition in New York. He designed two wallpapers as background for his product designs; ‘William’ and ‘Birds’.
William is based on the wallpaper design ‘Fruit’ of William Morris (1834 -1896), foreman of the Arts&Crafts. The leafs in the popular ‘Birds’ wallpaper is partly based on Arts&Crafts designs combined with silhouettes taken from educational bird books.
